Chang Hyelim is recognized as one of Korea's new generation of great artists.

She is winning acclaim not only in her native country, but in the United States and the rest of the

world. She is being recognized as a great artist in the US.

Born in Korea in 1961, Chang learned the art of Oriental painting from the great Korean master

Hoh Baek Ryun.

To widen her artistic abilities and senses, she went to the United States to study the western style

of art in the

late 1990s. Her professors at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City where she

studied sculpture

were impressed by the artistry of her work.

Since then, Chang has made her life in the United States and has devoted herself to her painting.

Her dedication

 reveals new vitality through vivid, passionate colors. Other times the mood is different,

 expressed through

subtle, muted colors, delicate, like the rarest of blooms.

Chang's works capture the beauty of the Orient. They speak to ardent fans of art and judges who

have granted

her large, prestigious prizes three times at home and abroad. She has held eleven private

exhibitions

around the world.

Her works range from traditional Asian subjects to the urban landscapes of America,

 evoking the splendor of both the unusual and the mundane.

Though Chang has enjoyed tremendous success as an artist, her personal life is one that has seen

much

heartache. She has decided not to allow her suffering to hold her back as an artist or a mother. 

Rather, in the tradition of poets, writers, musicians and other artists who use their suffering as a

source of

inspiration, Chang has reached deep with in herself to strengthen her talent and resolve as a

painter.

The passion of her work, the vividness and clarity of her vision,

springs from a heart that is full of emotion and has cried many tears.
