Pictures of Yellow mud thet

deepens the meaning of life through a burial.

kim, Young-jai, PH.D., Director of Daejeon Municipal Museum of Art

Park, Byung-Joon’s yellow mud pictures are both classics and originals.

The pictures contains our original beliefs, philosophy, culture, and the promise in our blood. It shows the strength of the people that has defended this land. There is the sky that the people have believed in and followed.

There are the people that believe that they will one day return to the sky where they came from. And there is the present and the future of korean art led by a korean artist.

Park, Byung-Joon’s pictures are contcentrated in the yellow mud. The calm yellow mud... He sings about the mud of the summers and the green leaves of the trees and the five colors that suggests a beauty unknown. A wise man once said the bright colors blind the eye. Therefore our ancestors concentrated on the earth colors to continue our tradition and that is the essense of Park, Byung-Joon’s pictures.

How is yellow mud a mud and a color? During the world cup, it seemed as if red replaced yellow as our national color. However yellow is our true color as well as the focus of our ideology. Than what would have encouraged the artist to represent the 300thousand people in a single painting.

Land of the East

Park, Byung-Joon believes that the civilizaton and art of this land has progressed as s single entity from the present to the future. In the beginning there were our ancestors. The world knelt in front of their wisdom. And in this land is the art that we have developed.

There has been many trials and errors before this yellow mud paintings. Trials included traditional oriental pintings as well as pictures of buddha, flowers, people, colored paintings, writings and many more. However none could match the calm color of the yellow mud nor the charm of it.

That is why only the yellow, white mud and the ink stick remains. If the greed of the blue mud is satisfied every element will be satisfied as well. The tradition of such art has been handed down for generation and first started form the age of a wise king that is rumored to have ruled the weather it self. The tradition of such paintings has been with us for a long time.

Such records are written in times of Confucius. There are also records of such works from almost 25 thousand years ago of a mongolian tribe that has migrated to Bal hae and gave rise to numerous civilizations.

A Book written by Wang Shin tells the history of the land with it’s warm climates and fertile earth that suggests that farming developed early and that the land belonged to Ian.

The King’s of Yo and soon came together to pool their powers together to create an empire which eventually became known as Eunsang.

The people of Ian worshiped the color white. White represented the sun. The artifacts found reflect this belief and the clothes they wore were white also. There are some suggestions that these people still exist in our country, forgotten but not lost. Many natons of the past worshiped the color white and the sun thereinafter.

As history progressed it finally came to the time equivalent to the greek period where there finally came into being, a work about matters and legends and philosophy as well as beliefs.

The artist’s vision reflet the chaotic history of this time and it is no coincidience that Park, Byung-Joon’s pictures of white and yellow mud contain the essence of those time’s teachings..

It is an incredible coincidence that the mud that Park, Byung-Joon uses are from the area that contains the culture of Altai which is the culture from which our culture was born from.
